Trick-or-TEETH! Vatech America Celebrates Halloween in the Office

Have you ever heard of Halloween? Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and it originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people would wear costumes and light bonfires to ward off ghosts. Many children dress up in fancy costumes and visit other homes in the neighborhood to demand sweets, which is known as playing trick-or-treat.  Adults may celebrate Halloween by watching horror films, holding costume parties or creating haunted houses.

Although it’s not a national holiday, Halloween is widely celebrated amongst family, friends, and, sometimes, co-workers! On October 31st, Vatech America held its second annual company-wide Halloween lunch and costume party to celebrate the holiday. Pizza and Korean Fried Chicken was provided by President Brian Hwang, and the participants were dressed as a character of their choice. Ezio Auditore (Assassin’s Creed), Giraffe, Snow White, a Chicken, Wolverine, and many more came to visit Vatech America on Halloween.

VUS employees in their costumes at the New Jersey Office

A costume contest was held at the VUS NJ office and to choose the winner, each employee in the office voted for one person that wore the best costume. David Ham, whom dressed as Donkey Kong, was chosen as the winner. Ben Rappaport (Wolverine) was the runner up and Roger Diaz (Giant Chicken) received 3rd place. The office was filled with fun and laughter as all the employees congregated and took many memorable pictures together.

For a more in-depth description of the event, we interviewed the 1st place winner of the costume contest, David Ham.

Vatech Global Marketing: Hello David. Can you please give us a brief introduction?

David Ham: Hello everyone! My name is David Ham and I work in the Marketing Department at Vatech America. It has been about 5 months since I’ve joined Vatech but it feels as though it’s been longer. It’s all thanks to the multicultural work environment and the amiable colleagues that makes working at Vatech enjoyable.

Vatech Global Marketing: I have heard that you won first place in the Halloween costume contest. What kind of costume did you wear for the event?

David Ham: The costume that I chose for this Halloween was Donkey Kong. Growing up, I played a lot of video games from Nintendo. So naturally, a lot of the classic characters are very nostalgic for me. As soon as I saw the Donkey Kong costume, I knew that is what I wanted to be this year!

Vatech Global Marketing: Please tell us how you feel about winning first place in the costume contest.

David Ham: First of all, I would like to thank all the people who voted for me. I wouldn’t be the number one Donkey Kong that I am without your support. The competition was fierce. I knew as I walked in the office that morning, there were major players who were gunning for 1st place as well. I was especially apprehensive about the two runner ups, Wolverine and Giant Chicken. However, lady luck was on my side this time and I was clinch the victory.
